Scientists 3D Print One of the Hardest Metals on Earth Using Novel Laser Technique

Researchers developed a hot-wire laser irradiation method to additively manufacture cemented carbides, achieving hardness above 1400 HV while preserving mechanical strength and reducing material waste. The technique opens a path for 3D printing cutting tools, mining equipment, and other components requiring extreme hardness.
