Sandia Neuromorphic Chips Solve Complex Physics Equations with Near-Linear Scaling

Sandia National Labs published a Nature Machine Intelligence paper demonstrating Intel's Loihi 2 neuromorphic chip solving partial differential equations -- the mathematical backbone of fluid dynamics and structural mechanics. Doubling core count nearly halved solve time with significantly lower energy cost than conventional CPUs. The breakthrough could enable neuromorphic supercomputers for national security computing.
