Russian MoD claims Sumy and Kupyansk gains including 150 sq km near Miropolsky, Petropavlovsk push

Russia's MoD weekly summary for April 11-17 claims Russian North-group forces expanded into Volchansk Farms and Zybino in Kharkiv and pressed to finally push Ukraine out of Petropavlovsk on the left bank of the Oskol River. Ukrainska Pravda independently reports Ukrainian forces admitting Russian advances in a Grabovsky-to-Miropolsky band inside Sumy oblast that now totals more than 150 square kilometres. Focus.ua described a Russian breakthrough toward Sumy from the east. The figures corroborate the HUR warning of a spring-summer offensive and suggest the shaping phase is already underway.

Analysis
The 150 sq km weekly clip in the Grabovsky-Miropolsky band, acknowledged by Ukrainian forces per Ukrainska Pravda, the load-bearing corroboration here, is operationally consistent with the shaping phase of the HUR-warned summer offensive rather than a decisive penetration, and the Petropavlovsk push fits the established pattern of closing left-bank Oskol real estate for defensibility. Sustained weekly gains in this band over the next 4-6 weeks are likely absent a material Ukrainian reserve injection. A Russian penetration of the Sumy urban periphery is very unlikely before mid-June given fortification density. The harder question for Kyiv is whether to pull reserves from Zaporizhzhia to cover the Sumy-Kharkiv seam, a trade that exposes the southern axis precisely as Russian KN-class missile volumes may return.
