Babis Calls EU Emissions System 'Absolute Catastrophe' Ahead of Brussels Summit

PM Babis labeled the EU ETS 'an absolute catastrophe' that has cost Czech Republic nearly 160 billion CZK, ahead of the March 19-20 European Council summit. The Czech position -- supported by Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary -- seeks ETS suspension plus a price ceiling and exemptions for energy-intensive sectors. The summit will also address Iran war impacts on energy prices and European security.
