Syrskyi Reports 106,000 Russian Troops Massed Near Pokrovsk, AFU Remains in Kursk

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on May 8 that Russia has concentrated approximately 106,000 personnel in the Pokrovsk direction, which he identified as the front's most critical sector. He added that Russian forces are intensifying offensive operations across nearly all sectors and conducting a large-scale regrouping, with elevated activity also in the Ocheretyne, Oleksandrivka, Kupiansk, and Kostiantynivka directions. Syrskyi confirmed that Ukrainian forces retain a presence in Russia's Kursk region despite sustained enemy pressure. In April, per Syrskyi's account, AFU joint fire support units conducted over 64,900 missions and struck 8,500 targets, while deep-strike assets hit 84 targets inside Russian territory.
