USMC Force Design Update: 12th MLR to Achieve IOC in 2026

The Marine Corps' Force Design update projects the 12th Marine Littoral Regiment reaching Initial Operating Capability in 2026, with rifle squads reverting to 13-Marine, four-fire-team configuration. Infantry battalions will integrate fires and reconnaissance companies with organic precision munitions and manned/unmanned ISR. VMA-223 will complete its Harrier-to-F-35B transition this year.
