NCTC Director Joe Kent Resigns: 'Iran Posed No Imminent Threat to Our Nation'

National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent became the first senior Trump administration official to resign over the Iran war, stating he could not 'in good conscience support the ongoing war' and that 'Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation.' Kent, a former Army Special Forces operator with 11 combat deployments and ex-CIA officer, accused Israel's lobby of driving the conflict. The White House pushed back, with Trump calling Kent 'very weak on security.' Kent's wife Shannon, a Navy cryptologist, was killed in a 2019 Syria bombing.

Analysis
Kent's resignation follows the pattern of internal dissent tracked since the March 14 digest, when DNI Gabbard's office denied wrongdoing amid whistleblower scrutiny. Kent is the first official to publicly break with the administration. His CIA background gives the resignation IC credibility.
