Hengaw Reports 6,530 Killed Including 640 Civilians in First 25 Days of Iran War
The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights published its seventh report documenting 6,530 deaths in the first 25 days of the Iran war, including 640 confirmed civilian casualties. At least 90 civilians were killed in Kurdish regions alone (Ilam, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, West Azerbaijan). Airstrikes and missile attacks targeted military and government facilities in 178 cities across 25 provinces. Iran's Deputy Health Minister previously stated 1,255 killed including 200 children and 11 healthcare workers, while HRANA confirmed 1,407 civilian deaths including 214 children. Separately, Lebanon's Ministry of Health reports at least 1,072 killed since March 2.
Analysis
The divergence between Hengaw's 640 civilian figure and HRANA's 1,407 reflects access differences: Hengaw has strong networks in Kurdish regions but limited Tehran coverage, while HRANA captures urban casualties but may double-count from state media. The 640 figure should be treated as a floor, not a ceiling.
