IC Assesses Homeland Missile Threats Will Expand From 3,000 to 16,000 by 2035

The 2026 ATA projects the missile threat to the US homeland will expand from over 3,000 today to over 16,000 by 2035 as Russia, China, North Korea, and Pakistan develop advanced delivery systems. The assessment also warns quantum computing will eventually break current encryption protecting sensitive government data, and that cyber actors employed AI for data-extortion operations against government and healthcare institutions in 2025.
