CENTCOM Deploys 5,000-lb Bunker Busters Against Iranian Coastal Missile Sites Near Hormuz

CENTCOM employed multiple GBU-28 deep penetrator munitions against hardened Iranian anti-ship missile positions along the Strait of Hormuz coastline on March 18. The strikes target Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping from fortified positions that conventional munitions cannot reach. This represents a shift toward degrading Iran's Hormuz denial capability rather than simply destroying surface naval assets.
