Senator Grassley Releases FBI Clinton Foundation Investigation Records Alleging Suppressed Probe

Senator Chuck Grassley released the FBI Washington Field Office's 12-page electronic communication that opened a preliminary investigation into the Clinton Foundation, along with 91 pages of related documents. Grassley sent a letter to Acting AG Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel alleging the DOJ had for years purposefully suppressed the FBI investigation, which documented foreign donations including from the head of Russia's Uranium One.

Analysis
We assess it is very unlikely the released documents will precipitate a new DOJ investigation or grand jury proceeding within the next 90 days, strengthened from an initial unlikely by the historical base rate: prior Clinton-related document releases under Trump's first term did not produce grand juries on comparable timelines, and the Durham investigation confirms institutional proceedings resist political compression. A 12-page EC opening a preliminary inquiry is thin material for an expedited charging decision, even under a favorably disposed AG and FBI Director. Grassley's release functions as political pressure rather than actionable legal predicate.
