Two Pilots Killed in LaGuardia Collision Between Air Canada Jet and Fire Truck at 104 MPH

An Air Canada CRJ-900 (Flight AC8646 from Montreal) struck a Port Authority fire truck on a runway at LaGuardia at 104 mph during landing, killing both pilots and injuring 41 passengers and 2 firefighters. The fire truck had been responding to a separate United Airlines flight that reported an odor. The airport was temporarily closed. NTSB and aviation authorities are investigating whether air traffic control coordination contributed to the collision. One pilot was identified as Antoine Forest of Coteau-du-Lac.
