John Eastman Disbarred in California Over Efforts to Overturn 2020 Election
The California Supreme Court ordered attorney John Eastman disbarred on April 15 for his role in developing the legal strategy to have then-Vice President Pence interfere with the 2020 election certification. Eastman faced 11 disciplinary charges. The State Bar's chief trial counsel said Eastman advanced false claims about the election to mislead courts, public officials, and the public. Eastman was also ordered to pay $5,000 in sanctions. His lawyer indicated plans to seek US Supreme Court review.
