DOJ Arrests Iranian-American CEO for Decade-Long Scheme Supplying US Technology to Iran Nuclear and Military Establishment
DOJ arrested Jamshid Ghomi, 63, a dual U.S.-Iranian national and CEO of Tehran-based Faraz Pardaz Rayaneh Co. Ltd. (FPR), on June 3 on a federal complaint charging conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
AEOI's formal vendor registration of FPR in 2021-2022, after State sanctioned AEOI for nuclear noncompliance, signals Iran expanded procurement channels rather than contracted them under sanctions pressure. Ghomi's concurrent Ministry of Defense relationship raises counterintelligence exposure the prosecution will not resolve, and UAE co-conspirators named in the affidavit remain uncharged, leaving the transshipment network structurally intact. This arrest and the concurrent Davina crude seizure compress Tehran's illicit trade from supply and revenue ends simultaneously. Iran's procurement apparatus maintains redundant transshipment channels, and disrupting one long-running AEOI vendor does not materially degrade the nuclear supply architecture.
