UAE Air Defenses Intercept Iranian Missiles and Drones on Day 24; Ruwais Refinery Fire Reported
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed early March 23 that air defense systems intercepted incoming Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, with residents reporting interception sounds across Abu Dhabi. An Indian national sustained minor injuries from falling debris. Iran has now launched 338 ballistic missiles and 1,740 drones at the UAE since hostilities began. A fire at the Ruwais Industrial Complex—housing the UAE's largest oil refinery—resulted from a drone strike that penetrated defenses. Dubai International Airport also suffered a fuel tank hit causing temporary flight suspension.
