FBI Hemorrhaging National Security Talent: 300 Agents Gone, Experience 'Decimated'

Approximately 300 FBI agents with national security portfolios have departed since the start of Trump's second term, including 45 who were fired outright. At least 50 held leadership positions. Former NSD chief Matthew Olsen assessed that the FBI has lost its most experienced Iran-threat professionals at the precise moment the country is at war with Iran. The departures are concentrated in counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and counterproliferation -- the three mission areas most relevant to the current conflict.
