TechRadar details Belarus SIM-farm operation hijacking UK and US telcos for global fraud

A Belarus-based criminal network operated a SIM-Farm-as-a-Service that hijacked infrastructure at UK and US telecommunications operators to enable global fraud, TechRadar reported Tuesday evening. The operation leveraged mobile virtual network operator pathways and SS7 exploitation to spoof sender identity at scale. PrismNews separately reported the UK's NCSC warned that commercial spyware now reaches more than 100 countries. Rituals, a Dutch beauty retailer, disclosed a breach affecting European and UK members, per PrismNews.

Analysis
The operation is consistent with the Minsk-Moscow criminal ecosystem functioning as a deniable force multiplier for Russian state objectives. Nominally criminal operators change neither the capability nor its dual utility for election interference and financial fraud, though no government attribution has yet surfaced to anchor the assessment beyond a single TechRadar report. The UK NCSC's concurrent warning that commercial spyware now reaches more than 100 countries is the strategic frame: the tools are proliferating faster than defenses can scale, and the Rituals breach is the consumer-facing symptom of that gap.
