Anduril Begins Fury Combat Drone Production at $1B Arsenal-1 Ohio Facility
Anduril Industries began production of its Fury autonomous combat aircraft at the Arsenal-1 manufacturing campus south of Columbus, Ohio. The $1 billion facility will employ 4,000+ over the next decade, starting with 250 by year-end. Fury is Anduril's entrant for the Air Force's Collaborative Combat Aircraft program, uncrewed platforms that fly alongside piloted fighters. The company's manufacturing philosophy emphasizes commercial materials (aluminum over titanium) and proven supply chains (commercial jet engine). Roadrunner interceptors, Barracuda cruise missiles, and a classified program will follow at the facility.
Analysis
Arsenal-1 production start was first flagged in the March 22 INTSUM. Fury drones represent a shift from development to industrial-scale autonomous weapons production, the first US-built attritable combat drone program to reach factory output.
