Anthropic Publishes Largest Global AI Attitudes Study: 81,000 Users Across 159 Countries
Anthropic released results from 80,508 structured interviews across 159 countries and 70 languages, the largest qualitative AI attitudes study to date. The top aspiration was professional excellence (18.8%), not speed. The primary concern was AI unreliability and hallucinations (26.7%), followed by economic displacement (22.3%) and loss of human agency (21.9%). Overall, 67% expressed positive views, with no country below 60%, though Western Europe and North America were notably less optimistic than South America, Africa, and Asia. Anthropic termed the central finding a "light and shade" paradox: features that attract users are identical to features driving their deepest anxieties.
