BLUFCheap AI-assisted intrusion tooling and lagging detection across South Korean banks mean at least one additional breached institution is likely to surface by mid-November.

Analysis
At least one more financial institution beyond those already named islikely to be reported as breached in this campaign by November 17. Confidence is high, resting on consistent reporting across four independent outlets, though several figures trace to shared Korean press rather than independent collection. The attacker hit internet-facing broker and employee-support services, so banks with segregated core networks still lost customer data, and the pattern already reached the five largest banks and secondary lenders such as BNK Financial. The Financial Services Commission's order to inventory exposed assets and share attacker IP addresses should surface more intrusions, given detection lagged 15 to 67 hours at three banks. The victim count may instead stop here if the actor shifts focus after its infrastructure was exposed. A confirmed new victim would push regulators and bank security chiefs to widen authentication and data-retention fixes beyond the named lenders. Otherwise, remediation can concentrate on the broker and employee-support systems.
