Kosovo parliament 89-0 approves Gaza ISF troops; Bosnia commits small contingent

Kosovo's Assembly voted 89-0 Friday to endorse the government's decision to deploy demining-heavy officers to the US-backed International Stabilization Force overseeing post-ceasefire Gaza. Bosnia separately announced it is prepared to send a small contingent the same day. The ISF, envisioned at up to 20,000 troops under US command and authorised under the October 2025 Hamas-Israel ceasefire, draws pledges from Indonesia (8,000), Albania, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and now Kosovo and Bosnia. Al Jazeera Arabic highlighted the Balkan participation.

Analysis
The 89-0 Kosovo vote and parallel Bosnian commitment slot two European Muslim-majority polities into the ISF in a configuration plainly designed to dilute the Arab-majority optics that Indonesia's 8,000-troop anchor would otherwise dominate; with pledge trajectory converging across multiple outlets, a fully assembled 20,000-personnel force by end-Q2 is likely, though sustainment past the first ceasefire violation remains the genuine variable. Kosovo's contribution is substantively small but politically load-bearing: it positions Prishtina as a NATO-adjacent security contributor at precisely the moment Serbian recognition remains unresolved, and a Serbian counter-move, whether symbolic rapprochement with Moscow or pressure on northern Kosovo, is likely within three months. The ISF's actual stress test will be the rules of engagement around Hamas remnant clearance, which the October 2025 agreement left deliberately ambiguous.
