Pakistan-Linked Network Runs Coordinated AI-Generated Disinformation Campaign Against India

DFRAC has documented a coordinated Pakistan-linked network deploying AI-generated deepfakes of senior Indian officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Prime Minister Modi, to falsely portray India as aligned with Israel against Iran. India's PIB Fact Check and Deepfakes Analysis Unit confirmed multiple videos as wholly synthetic; WION separately reported that a deepfake of Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi carried an entirely AI-generated audio track. DFRAC traced three content surges in early March, mid-March, and April, each aligned with specific geopolitical events including the sinking of IRIS Dena and Pakistan's reported role in US-Iran ceasefire talks.

Analysis
Synchronized amplification surges correlated with three distinct geopolitical events indicate a standing operational infrastructure responding to external cues rather than opportunistic nationalist posting. The Information Minister's documented social media proximity to PakVocals is assessed to reflect at minimum passive state endorsement of the amplification layer, though whether Islamabad exercises operational direction over content production remains unconfirmed. India is very unlikely within 60 days to issue a formal diplomatic protest over this campaign. New Delhi has consistently absorbed documented Pakistani information operations through domestic fact-check mechanisms rather than formal bilateral escalation, and evidentiary attribution standards sufficient for diplomatic action remain a durable structural barrier.
