Ukraine-Russia Day 1,488: 148 Combat Engagements; US-Ukraine Peace Talks Resume in Miami

Ukrainian forces recorded 148 combat engagements on March 22 with Russia deploying 8,379 kamikaze drones and conducting 3,587 shelling attacks. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 234 of 251 Russian drones overnight. Russia lost an estimated 940 personnel in 24 hours, bringing total assessed casualties since February 2022 to approximately 1,288,850. Ukraine launched nearly 300 drones targeting Saratov, Engels airfield, and Tolyatti — key Russian military-industrial sites. Separately, US and Ukrainian officials met in Miami for a second day of talks aimed at brokering a peace deal. The talks come as the Iran conflict diverts US military resources and diplomatic bandwidth from the Eastern European theater.
