Arm Releases First In-House AGI CPU in 35-Year History; Meta, OpenAI, Cloudflare Among Launch Partners
Arm Holdings unveiled its first-ever in-house chip, the Arm AGI CPU, designed for AI inference workloads in data centers. The chip, built on Arm's Neoverse core IP, represents a historic departure from Arm's 35-year licensing-only model. Meta is the primary launch customer, with OpenAI, Cerebras, and Cloudflare also signed as partners. Arm invested $71 million and 18 months building new lab facilities in Austin, Texas, growing the team to over 1,000 engineers. CEO Haas projected $15 billion in revenue from the new chip line, sending Arm stock up 6%.
