ICE Detention Hits Record 73,000; 92% of Growth Driven by Non-Criminal Immigrants

ICE's detained population hit 73,000 -- an 84% increase from the same period in 2025. Ninety-two percent of the growth is driven by immigrants without criminal convictions. The agency is now holding people in 225 facilities, up from 121 a year ago. The administration targets 100,000+ beds by year-end, funded by the Big Budget Act's unprecedented $75B allocation.
