DIA Stands Up Digital Modernization Accelerator, Deploys ChatDIA on Top-Secret JWICS Network

The Defense Intelligence Agency has permanently established its Digital Modernization Accelerator to centralize AI and technical expertise across the intelligence enterprise. The DMA, evolved from Task Force Sabre, operates under a hub-and-spoke model supporting DIA directorates and combatant commands. DIA has deployed ChatDIA, the first classified generative AI chatbot running on the top-secret JWICS network, which has saved hundreds of hours according to Maj. Gen. Robert Kinney. The agency is sending mission integration teams of AI experts to combatant commands, starting with a successful INDOPACOM pilot, and plans to build agentic AI capabilities within the classified fabric.

ChatDIA on JWICS is the first operational-scale LLM on the IC's most sensitive network, with hub-and-spoke mission teams at INDOPACOM and STRATCOM outpacing most civilian agency AI deployments.
