New Jersey Signs Trio of Anti-ICE Laws Including Mask Ban and Immigration Data Protections

Governor Sherrill signed three laws sharply restricting ICE operations in New Jersey: a ban on law enforcement wearing masks during public interactions (with undercover exceptions), a prohibition on state agencies sharing immigration status without a warrant, and a bar on local police assisting federal immigration authorities absent a judicial warrant. New Jersey becomes the third state to ban ICE masking. The Trump administration has previously stated it will not comply with state mask bans, arguing agents face doxing and harassment threats.
