Senate Passes Resolution Condemning Xi Jinping for Crimes Against Humanity and Undermining Peace

BLUFBipartisan condemnation carries no binding force, and the Trump administration is very unlikely to follow through with Magnitsky designations against CCP officials by year-end 2026 while trade negotiations with Beijing remain active.

The Senate agreed to S.Res.444 without amendment by voice vote on June 16, the day after Xi Jinping's 73rd birthday, after the Foreign Relations Committee was discharged to permit floor consideration. 1 Sponsored by Sen.
