Kuwait Dismantles Hezbollah-Linked Cells Planning Assassinations of State Leaders

Kuwait State Security dismantled a network linked to Hezbollah that planned assassinations targeting state leaders. Six suspects were arrested; 14 remain fugitive. Defendants admitted to espionage, Hezbollah membership, and receiving advanced military training abroad in weapons, explosives, and surveillance. This is the third such cell exposed in Kuwait since mid-March; earlier operations on March 16 and 18 netted 26 additional suspects with seized firearms, drones, and encrypted communications. Hezbollah categorically denied operating cells in Kuwait.

Analysis
Three separate cell disruptions in Kuwait within 10 days indicates either a large, previously undetected network or coordinated activation in response to the Iran war. The advanced military training (explosives, assassination, drones) goes well beyond intelligence collection. This connects to the Gulf condemnation at the UNHRC. Whether these cells were dormant assets activated by Tehran or pre-existing networks remains an open question investigators are pursuing.
