NASA Completes Nuclear Thermal Propulsion Cold-Flow Tests, First Since 1960s

NASA successfully completed cold-flow tests on the first flight reactor engineering development unit since the 1960s at Marshall Space Flight Center. The tests validated fluid dynamics and vibration resistance critical for nuclear thermal propulsion systems, which could cut Mars transit times in half compared to chemical propulsion. The milestone revives a capability dormant for over 60 years.
