Russian Drone Attack Knocks Out Power Across Most of Ukraine's Chernihiv Region
A Russian drone attack on March 21 struck an energy facility in Chernihiv's Nizhyn district, cutting power to most of Ukraine's northern Chernihiv region including the regional capital. Several trains were delayed due to loss of power in the overhead contact network. The attack continues Russia's systematic targeting of Ukraine's electricity grid—the country's largest infrastructure vulnerability—as it approaches a fourth year of full-scale invasion. The Chernihiv strike coincided with the 280-drone Ukrainian barrage targeting Russian industrial assets.
