Lawfare Documents 355 Immigration Habeas Cases Where Government Defied Federal Court Orders

Lawfare published an expanded database documenting 355 immigration habeas cases where the government violated federal court orders, up from 300 cases in the initial April 3 release. Categories include 50 cases of illegal release conditions, 30 failures to hold bond hearings, 49 unauthorized transfers out of filing jurisdictions, and 8 deportations despite injunctions. The database is searchable and continuously updated. Lawfare noted that systematic noncompliance by a coordinate branch across hundreds of district courts over a brief period constitutes an institutional crisis requiring monitoring.
