Israel Strikes South Pars Complex, Knocking 85% of Iran's Petrochemical Output Offline

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed a strike on Iran's South Pars petrochemical facility near Asaluyeh, the country's largest, responsible for approximately 50% of national petrochemical production. Combined with a prior strike on Iran's second-largest facility, approximately 85% of Iranian petrochemical exports are now offline. The strikes targeted the Jam and Damavand petrochemical plants as part of an economic warfare strategy against Iran's revenue base. At least 25 people were killed across Monday's combined US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

Analysis
Taking 85% of Iranian petrochemical output offline represents an escalation from military to economic warfare. Petrochemicals are Iran's second-largest export sector after oil. Combined with the Hormuz closure's impact on Iran's own crude exports, the strikes are compressing Iran's revenue base from both the supply and infrastructure sides simultaneously.
