State Department Approved Patriot Missiles for Ukraine Will Not Arrive Until 2030
A US State Department official told European Pravda that the 500 PAC-3 interceptors for Ukraine, whose possible sale the department approved on October 30, would be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2030 and the fourth quarter of 2033
The first PAC-3 interceptors will reach Kyiv no sooner than late 2030, so the sale does nothing for the air-defense gap Zelensky says Russia is trying to exploit this week. Any near-term relief depends on two workarounds: the Defense Ministry's push for the Pentagon to transfer existing US stock and backfill later, and negotiations for other buyers to yield queue positions. Both require US or European governments to give up their own inventory. Roughly 12 missiles a month remains the operating constraint through the winter. The 2030 to 2033 window may be a conservative contractual ceiling that Washington could shorten through stock transfers once Congress completes its review. Confidence is high, based on a named State Department delivery window that Military Times' two briefed sources independently support.
