Washington State Opens Tesla's Direct EV Sales Loophole to Rivian and Lucid

Washington SB 6354 extends direct-to-consumer EV sales to Rivian and Lucid, previously a Tesla-only exemption. Rivian's $4.6M pledge to a ballot initiative forced dealership lobbyists to negotiate. The compromise applies only to US-based, battery-electric-only manufacturers -- a narrow definition that excludes legacy automakers transitioning to EVs.
