Ukraine Reports 970 Russian Casualties March 23; Nearly 300 Ukrainian Drones Target Saratov and Engels

Ukraine's General Staff reports 970 Russian soldiers killed or wounded in the past 24 hours, bringing cumulative casualties to approximately 1,288,850 since February 2022. Ukraine launched nearly 300 drones overnight targeting Saratov, Engels, and Tolyatti—key military-industrial sites including the Saratov oil refinery and Engels-2 strategic bomber airfield. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 127 of 139 Russian drones. Zelensky noted 8,000+ Russian casualties in the past week alone, calling it evidence that Russian offensives yield only losses.
